A Norwegian pilot cutter designed by Colin Archer in 1908, and built in steel by Taunton Marine in Christchurch in 1997. Rejoice was built to survey, and has had only one owner for her 20 years. Rejoice has been offshore and was in Category One in 2017. Her double ended hull and deep wine glass hull sections produce an easy non pounding motion at sea, and great resistance to broaching. Her strong steel hull gives the assurance the keel will not fall off, the chain plates will not tear out and the hull will not leak, even in the worst weather offshore. The pilot house, added in 2012, is a great haven in cold weather and a pleasant sun trap in good weather. “Rejoice” averages 100 nautical miles a day, with best days runs of around 130 NM. Her classic design, wooden spars and tan coloured sails attract attention wherever she sails.
